Plugixa Chat

Most visitors will not fill in a contact page, but they will send a WhatsApp message. Plugixa Chat puts one button in the corner of your site that opens the channels your customers already use: WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, a phone call, email, a booking page, 44 in all.

For people who would rather not open an app there is a contact form inside the widget. Messages are stored in your own database, emailed to you with the reply address already set, and exported to CSV. A dashboard on your own server shows how often the widget is seen, opened and used.

It is built to be left alone: under 14 KB compressed, nothing loaded from a third party, correct behind a page cache and usable with a keyboard. Pro adds business hours, named agents, A/B tests, your own form questions, and connections to Mailchimp, Brevo, FluentCRM and anything that accepts a webhook.

Features

Everything you need

Every way your visitors already talk

A catalogue of 44 channels in six groups. Add as many to a widget as you like and drag them into order.

  • Messaging apps

WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Viber, Signal, LINE, WeChat and more, each opened in the app.

  • Phone, email and SMS

A call, a text or an email, started with your number or address already filled in.

  • Booking, maps and social

Calendly and other booking pages, Google Maps and Waze, and your social profiles.

  • Custom links

Add a button for anything else with a link of your own, as many as you need.

  • Pre-filled messages

Start the conversation for the visitor, with the page title and address filled in by merge tags.

  • QR code on computers

WhatsApp and LINE can show a QR code on a desktop, so the chat starts on the phone.

From nothing to a live widget in four steps

Channels, Design, When and where, Review. A preview is drawn beside every step, for desktop and for mobile.

  • Live preview

The widget is drawn as you work by the same code that runs on your site.

  • Unlimited widgets

One for the shop, one for a landing page, one for after hours. Rules decide which page gets which.

  • Review before launch

A checklist of anything that would leave visitors with a broken or empty widget.

  • Active or inactive

Save a widget without showing it, and switch it on when it is ready.

  • Duplicate a widget

Copy a widget you like and change one thing.

A button that looks like your site

Set the look once per widget, and per channel where you want it different.

  • Position, layout and size

Left or right, a vertical or horizontal menu, and a button never smaller than a comfortable tap.

  • Colours with a contrast check

Pick the button and icon colours and see their contrast ratio as you choose.

  • Icons

Brand logos, a library of icons, or an image of your own for the button and for each channel.

  • Greeting and unread badge

A short message beside the button and a small counter that draws the eye.

  • Attention effects

Nine gentle animations for the button, switched off for visitors who ask for reduced motion.

The right widget on the right page

Show on or Except on rules, as many as you need. They are checked so that a cached page is still right for each visitor.

  • Pages and content

By kind of page, specific pages and posts, category or tag, and content type.

  • Page address

Contains, starts with, ends with, exactly, or a regular expression.

  • Device and sign-in

Desktop only or mobile only, and signed-in or signed-out visitors.

  • Where they came from

Show a widget to visitors arriving from a site you name.

  • Triggers

Let the widget appear after a delay, after scrolling, or when the visitor is about to leave.

  • Country and language Pro

Show or hide a widget by the visitor's country or browser language.

For visitors who would rather not open an app

A form inside the widget. You choose its title, fields and wording.

  • Your fields

Name, email, phone and message, each shown or hidden, required or optional.

  • Consent and newsletter

An optional consent line and an optional newsletter box, in your own words.

  • Spam kept out

A hidden trap field, a minimum typing time and a limit per visitor, with no captcha to solve.

  • Cloudflare Turnstile

Add Turnstile with your own keys if spam still gets through.

  • Your own questions Pro

Up to twelve extra questions: text, long text, a list or a tick box.

  • Conditional questions Pro

Show a question only when an earlier answer calls for it.

Every message, kept and findable

Messages from the contact form are stored on your own site, not in somebody else's service.

  • Leads screen

New and read messages, searchable, with each one opened in a side panel.

  • Email notification

A message to the addresses you choose, with the reply address set to the visitor.

  • Export CSV

Download your leads as a spreadsheet.

  • Privacy tools

Leads are included in WordPress's personal data export and erase tools, with a retention period you set.

  • Webhooks Pro

Post each lead as signed JSON to Zapier, Make, n8n or your own code, with retries.

  • Mailing lists Pro

Send people who tick the newsletter box to Mailchimp, Brevo or FluentCRM.

Chat buttons beyond the corner

The same channels, placed inside your pages.

  • Chat button block

Pick a widget and a channel in the block editor and see the button as visitors will.

  • Shortcode

[plugixa_chat] works anywhere shortcodes run, with a builder that writes it for you.

  • Product page button

A contact button below Add to cart, with a message that names the product.

  • Follows your widget

A button uses its channel's number, colour and logo, so changing the widget changes the button.

  • Order status lookup Pro

Customers enter their email and order number and see the order's status in the widget.

Offer a conversation when someone can answer

For sites where real people pick up, and not at every hour.

  • Business hours for a widget Pro

A weekly timetable on your site's clock. Outside it the widget is not shown.

  • Business hours for a channel Pro

Hide just the phone row after closing and leave the rest of the widget.

  • Agents Pro

Add the people who answer, each with a role, a number and hours of their own.

  • Take turns Pro

Share visitors evenly between the people on duty, and give a returning visitor the same person.

  • One widget or all Pro

Attach a person to one widget or to every widget on the site.

Know what the button is doing

Counted on your own server. No record is kept of who the visitor was.

  • Dashboard

Times shown, opened and contacts started, with the follow-through rate.

  • Activity and channels

A chart for 7, 30 or 90 days, and the channels visitors use most.

  • Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel

Widget events handed to the tags your site already loads. The plugin loads none itself.

  • A/B tests Pro

Show two widgets to different visitors and see which starts more conversations.

  • Per-widget dashboard Pro

Filter the whole dashboard to one widget.

Light, private and well behaved

Built to be installed once and left alone.

  • Under 14 KB

The whole widget script, compressed. A release is refused if it grows past that.

  • Cache safe

Visitor-specific rules are decided in the browser, so a cached page is right for everyone.

  • Accessible

A real button and menu for keyboards and screen readers, and reduced motion respected.

  • Private by default

Visitor IP addresses are stored as a one-way hash unless you choose otherwise.

  • Translation ready

Every string can be translated, and the widget and the admin both work right to left.

  • Dark theme Pro

Switch the admin to a dark theme from the top bar.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Getting Started

Open Plugixa Chat in the WordPress admin menu, then Widgets, then New widget. The builder walks through channels, design, when and where it appears, and a review step. Nothing is shown to visitors until you save the widget as Active.
WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 8.2 or later.
No. The WhatsApp channel opens an ordinary WhatsApp conversation with the number you enter, the same as a wa.me link. The plugin does not send or receive messages itself.
Yes. There is no limit on widgets, and each has its own Show on and Except on rules for pages, content types, categories, page addresses, devices and signed-in visitors.

Speed and Privacy

The widget script is under 14 KB compressed and the button is drawn with the rest of the page. Nothing is loaded from a third party.
Yes. Rules that depend on the visitor, such as device, signed-in state and business hours, are decided in the browser, so one cached page is correct for every visitor.
Analytics are counts per hour, with no record of who the visitor was. A message sent through the contact form is stored as a lead in your own database. Visitor IP addresses are stored as a one-way hash by default, and you can set a retention period after which leads are deleted.
Not on its own. Cloudflare Turnstile is contacted only if you add your Turnstile keys. In Pro, webhooks and the Mailchimp and Brevo connections contact the services you set up.

Contact Form and Leads

The message is saved under Leads, and an email goes to the addresses you chose with the reply address set to the visitor, so you can answer from your inbox.
Every form has a hidden trap field, a minimum typing time and a limit of five messages per visitor every five minutes. If spam still gets through you can add Cloudflare Turnstile with your own keys.
Yes. The Leads screen has an Export CSV button.
In Pro. Webhooks post each lead as signed JSON to Zapier, Make, n8n or your own code, and CRM connections add people who tick the newsletter box to Mailchimp, Brevo or FluentCRM.

Free and Pro

No. There is no limit on widgets, channels or leads, and nothing in the free download is switched off or time-limited. Pro is a separate download that adds features.
Business hours for a widget or a single channel, country and language rules, agents with their own hours who can take turns, your own questions on the contact form with conditions, webhooks, Mailchimp, Brevo and FluentCRM connections, A/B tests, a WooCommerce order status lookup, a per-widget dashboard filter and a dark theme for the admin.
Yes. The free edition can add a contact button below Add to cart on product pages, with a message that names the product. Pro adds an order status channel where a customer enters their email and order number.
