Dashboard - Plugixa Car Rental

The dashboard is the screen the plugin opens on. It is laid out the way a rental desk starts its day: who is collecting a car today, who is bringing one back, who is late, how much of the fleet is out, and how bookings and money are coming in.

Open it from Plugixa Car Rental -> Dashboard in the WordPress menu, or from Dashboard at the top of the app’s own sidebar.

The dashboard greeting Marta, with the Pickups today, Returns today, On rent now and Overdue returns tiles, Today at the desk, Fleet right now, the Last 30 days revenue chart and Bookings by status

The heading greets you by first name (“Good morning”, “Good afternoon” or “Good evening”, by the clock on your own device) and names the day the figures are for: “Here is your rental desk for” followed by the date, for example Thursday, October 29, 2026. That date is the site’s day, taken from the timezone set in WordPress under Settings -> General, not the day on your device. A New booking button sits beside the heading if you are allowed to create bookings.

The screen refreshes itself every minute while it is open, so a booking made on your website appears without anybody reloading the page.

To see the dashboard a user needs the plugixa_car_rental_view capability. Administrators have it. See Bookings.

The four tiles

Tile What it counts Click it to
Pickups today Bookings whose pickup falls today: “Cars going out today”. Pending, Confirmed, Picked up, Returned and Completed bookings count, so a car already handed over stays in the figure. A pending booking whose hold has run out is left out. Jump to Today at the desk, on its Pickups tab.
Returns today Bookings whose return falls today: “Cars coming back today”. Confirmed, Picked up, Returned and Completed bookings count. A pending booking cannot come back, because it never went out. Jump to Today at the desk, on its Returns tab.
On rent now Bookings in the Picked up status: cars that are with a customer at this moment. Underneath, the share of your cars in service that this is, for example “13% of cars in service”. Open the bookings list filtered to Picked up.
Overdue returns Picked up bookings whose return time has passed. With none, the tile is green and reads “Every car is on time”. With one or more it turns red and reads “Past their return time”. Open the bookings list filtered to Picked up.

“Today” runs from midnight to midnight on the site’s clock. Pickup and return times are stored in UTC and converted before they are compared, so a 00:30 pickup on a site two hours ahead of UTC belongs to today, not yesterday.

Today at the desk

The desk’s worklist for the day, with two tabs: Pickups and Returns, each with its count. The four tiles above switch between them.

Each row shows:

  • the time, on the site’s clock;
  • the customer’s name (or their email, or “No name given”), and the booking reference, such as ADR-2026-0014;
  • the model and the plate of the car assigned, and the location. For a one-way rental it shows both ends, for example City Centre -> Cascais Marina;
  • a payment chip, such as Not paid, when the booking is not fully paid;
  • the booking status.

Click a row to open the booking. A row stays on the list once the car has gone out or come back, with its status changed to Picked up or Returned. The list is the plan for the day, so whoever comes on shift at noon can see what has already happened.

Each tab lists up to eight bookings, soonest first. When there are more, a line under the list says how many: “3 more today in the bookings list.” View all opens the bookings list.

Overdue returns are shown above both tabs, under the heading Overdue returns, so they are never hidden behind a tab. Each one says when the car was “due back”. Up to six are listed, the longest overdue first.

When a tab is empty it says “No pickups today.” or “No returns today.”

Fleet right now

How your cars are split at this moment.

Line What it is
On rent Cars out with a customer, from the Picked up bookings.
Available Cars in service that are not on rent.
Out of service Cars you keep on file but do not offer, because they are unpublished. See Fleet.

The large percentage is the share of the cars in service that are out (“of cars in service are out”), and the bar under it shows all three parts of the fleet. The last line gives the total, for example “15 cars in the fleet”. View all opens Vehicles.

The percentage never goes above 100% and Available never below zero, even when a car was taken out of service while a customer still has it.

With no vehicles yet, the card says “No vehicles yet.”

To confirm and Next 7 days

Two small tiles under the fleet card.

Tile What it counts Opens
To confirm Pending bookings whose hold has not run out. These are waiting for you, or for a payment. The bookings list filtered to Pending.
Next 7 days Pending and Confirmed bookings with a pickup between now and seven days from now. The bookings list.

Last 30 days

A chart of the 30 days ending today. A switch at its top right changes what it shows.

  • Revenue - money received each day, less refunds, with the total above the chart (“received, less refunds”). It is read from the payments recorded against bookings, on the day each payment was recorded, not on the day of the rental. A booking that has not been paid adds nothing until a payment is recorded. See Payments.
  • Bookings - bookings made each day, whatever their status, with the total (“bookings made”).

Beside the total, an arrow and a percentage compare it with the 30 days before, “vs previous 30 days”. When the previous period had nothing to compare with, no percentage is shown rather than an invented one.

Revenue is shown in your store currency. With Currencies PRO, payments taken in another currency are left out of this chart, and a note says so: “In EUR only. Money taken in other currencies is in Reports.” See Reports PRO.

An empty period says “No payments in the last 30 days. Money shows here on the day it is received.” or “No bookings were made in the last 30 days.”

Bookings by status

One bar for each status that has at least one booking, in the colour that status has everywhere else in the app: Pending, Confirmed, Picked up, Returned, Completed, Cancelled, No-show and Expired. Click a bar to open the bookings list filtered to that status. View all opens the whole list.

Recent bookings

The six bookings made most recently, newest first. Each row shows the customer, the reference, the model and the pickup date, the total, how long ago it was made, and its status. Click a row to open the booking.

With no bookings at all, the card says “No bookings yet.”

What is counted

  • Bookings in the trash are left out of every figure.
  • A pending booking whose hold has lapsed, but which the hourly clean-up has not yet marked Expired, is already left out of Pickups today, To confirm and Next 7 days. That car is not coming.
  • Each card appears only when the app behind it is switched on, so a feature you switch off in the App manager takes its card with it rather than leaving it at zero.

The app around it

Every screen of the plugin, the dashboard included, sits inside one app with its own navigation.

Part What it does
Sidebar Dashboard on its own, then the groups Bookings (Bookings, Extras, Coupons), Fleet (Models, Vehicles, Categories, Rates, and with Pro, Pricing rules PRO and Pricing calendar PRO), Reports PRO and Configuration (Locations, Tax PRO, Custom fields, Settings, App manager). A group can be collapsed with the arrow beside its heading, and your browser remembers which ones you collapsed. A screen whose app is switched off is not listed.
Search pages The box in the top bar opens a search over the app’s screens. Press / anywhere outside a text field to open it from the keyboard. With nothing typed it lists every screen under Go to, in the sidebar’s order, with its group beside it. Type to narrow the list by name. Arrow keys move, Enter opens.
View site Opens the front of your website.
Full screen Shows the app on the whole display, without the WordPress menu and toolbar. Exit full screen brings them back.
Account menu Your name and email, then Profile (your WordPress profile), Exit to WordPress (the WordPress dashboard) and Log out.

On a site that WordPress reports as local, development or staging, the top bar carries a badge that says Local, Development or Staging, with the note “This is not the live site”.

The app’s page search open over the dashboard, with “pric” typed and Pricing rules and Pricing calendar listed under Go to, each with its group Fleet beside it

The plugin’s search finds screens only, not bookings or customers: to find a booking, use the search box on the Bookings list. WordPress’s own command palette, opened with Ctrl + K (Cmd + K on a Mac), still works over the app, and is a quick way to reach the pages that carry your booking form and customer portal.

When a figure looks wrong

What you see Why
Revenue is lower than the bookings’ totals Revenue counts money recorded in the payments ledger. A booking paid at pickup adds nothing until the desk records the payment. See Payments.
A booking made late in the evening shows on the next day, or the one before The site’s timezone decides which day it falls on. Check it in WordPress under Settings -> General.
On rent now stays at 0 Cars count as on rent only once their booking is marked Picked up. See Bookings.
A late car is not in Overdue returns Only bookings marked Picked up can be overdue. A car handed over without its booking being moved to Picked up is not known to be out.
Pickups today is lower than the bookings you see for today Cancelled, no-show and expired bookings are not counted, and nor is a pending booking whose hold has run out.
A card is missing Its app is switched off. See App manager.
