Blocks - Plugixa Easy Social Share Buttons
The plugin adds two blocks to the block editor in the free edition and two more in Pro. Each block stores only a choice. The buttons themselves are drawn on the server by the same code as every other placement, so a block always shows the current version of your share set or profiles.
| Block | Name | Category | Edition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share buttons | plugixa-social-share/share |
Widgets | Free |
| Follow buttons | plugixa-social-share/follow |
Widgets | Free |
| Quote to share | plugixa-social-share/quote |
Text | Pro PRO |
| Save this post by email | plugixa-social-share/save |
Widgets | Pro PRO |
Every block supports an additional CSS class and a margin setting.
Share buttons
One of your saved share sets, chosen from a list.
- Add the Share buttons block.
- In the block’s sidebar, under Share set, open Which share set and choose a set by name.
| Setting | Choices | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Which share set | Default, with the default set’s name in brackets, or any of your sets | Default |
Default follows the default set, the one with the lowest number. If you want the block to keep showing one particular set whatever happens to the others, choose that set by name.
The sidebar also has a Manage share sets link. When the site has no share set yet, the block shows “There is no share set yet. Create one, then choose it here.” with a Create a share set button.
The block draws the set exactly as saved. To change the look in one place only, use the shortcode with its attributes instead. See Shortcodes.
If the chosen set is deleted, visitors see nothing in the block’s place and people who can edit posts see a note saying which set is missing.
Follow buttons
Links to your own profiles, wherever a block can go: a post, a footer widget area, a template part in the site editor.
| Setting | Choices | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | As saved under Follow buttons, Icons only, Icons and names | As saved under Follow buttons |
The profiles are the site’s, and are edited in one place: Plugixa Social Share -> Follow buttons. The block’s sidebar links there with Edit your profiles. With no profiles yet, the block shows “Add your profiles first: Instagram, YouTube, a newsletter, wherever people can follow you.”
See Follow buttons.
Quote to share PRO
A quote set off from the text, with buttons that share just those words and a link to the post. The quote is typed into the box itself.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Who said it | Shown under the quote, and shared after it. Leave empty for your own words | Empty |
| Share to | The networks the quote can be shared to | X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon |
| Style | Card or Line | Card |
See Quote boxes.
Save this post by email PRO
A form that emails the reader the post they are on, and lets them join your list. The block has no settings of its own: what the form does is set under Settings -> General. It can be used once per post.
See Email capture.
The Elementor widget
With Elementor active, a Share buttons widget appears in its General category. Search for “share”, “social”, “buttons” or “plugixa”.
| Control | Choices | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Which share set | Default, or any of your sets by name | Default |
The widget stores the set’s number, not its name, so renaming a set never breaks a page that uses it. A Manage share sets link opens the list in a new tab.
For follow buttons in Elementor, use Elementor’s Shortcode widget with
[plugixa_follow].
How blocks load their files
A block has no front-end stylesheet of its own. Before a post is drawn, the plugin reads its content, finds the blocks, shortcodes and Elementor widgets that name a share set, and puts the stylesheet in the page’s head like any other placement. This also works for a block inside a synced pattern.
A block placed where the plugin cannot look ahead, such as a widget area or a site-editor template, gets its stylesheet at the end of the page, which can show the buttons unstyled for a moment on first paint. On a page that also has an automatic placement, or a set placed in the post’s own content, the stylesheet is already in the head and there is no such moment. See Performance.
Inside the editor, the block editor and Elementor both show the buttons with their real stylesheet and icons.
What to do next
- Build the sets the block lists: Share sets.
- Use a shortcode or PHP instead: Shortcodes.
