Redirects Settings - Plugixa Permalink Manager
The Redirects tab controls every automatic redirect the plugin makes. What those redirects are is explained in Automatic redirects.

Redirect type
| Choice | When to use it |
|---|---|
| 301 Moved permanently | The default. Tells search engines the move is final |
| 302 Found (temporary) | While you are still deciding on addresses. Browsers remember a 301 |
| 307 Temporary redirect | Temporary, and keeps the request method |
| 308 Permanent redirect | Permanent, and keeps the request method |
| No redirects at all | Switches every redirect off, manual ones included |
The type applies to corrections straight away, and to old addresses recorded from now on: an old address keeps the type that was in force when it was recorded. A manual redirect on the Redirects screen PRO has a type of its own.
The switches
| Switch | On means |
|---|---|
| Keep old addresses working when an address changes | A replaced address is stored as an old address of the item |
| Serve redirects from old addresses | Stored redirects actually redirect. Turn off to pause them, manual ones too, without losing the list |
| Send WordPress addresses to the custom ones | /product/skyline-2-backpacking-tent/ goes to /shop/tents/skyline-2/ |
| Redirect a missing or extra trailing slash | /stores goes to /stores/, or the reverse |
| Keep the query string when redirecting | ?utm_source=... survives the redirect |
| Correct http/https and www in the same redirect | On a site that uses https, an address requested over http is corrected in the same hop |
All six are on by default.
The first two are separate on purpose. Turning off Keep old addresses working stops new ones being recorded; turning off Serve redirects keeps recording them but stops answering, which is useful when you are diagnosing a redirect problem.
Redirects to other sites
Applies to redirects you add on the Redirects screen PRO and to imported ones.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Only to the sites listed below | The default. A redirect to a host that is neither listed nor already trusted by WordPress is refused |
| To any site | No check |
Allowed sites takes host names separated by commas:
giftcards.fernhill.example, shop.example.com
Keeping the list short protects the site from being used to disguise links to somewhere else.
Old addresses kept per item
How many old addresses one item may hold; 50 by default, between 1 and 500. When an item goes over, its oldest are removed.
