Troubleshooting - Plugixa Image Map
The map does not show on the page
Work down this list.
- Is it published? A draft prints nothing. Check the toggle in All maps.
- Is it in the trash? Look under Trash.
- Is the number right? The
idin the shortcode must match the map. - Does it still have its picture? If the image was deleted from the media library, choose one again in the editor.
- Is the page cached? Clear your page cache or CDN after publishing.
The map shows, but without its styles
The stylesheet is loaded only on pages where WordPress can see a map. Some page builders print content later than that. Set Settings > Load the map script to Every page.
A hotspot is missing
- Its layer is hidden: look for a crossed-out eye in the layers panel.
- It has a condition PRO that does not match you. Check in a private window, or as a user with the right role.
- It is covered by another hotspot. Change the order in the layers panel.
A tooltip does not open
- Show a tooltip is off for that hotspot, or Show tooltips is off for the map.
- The tooltip is empty.
- The map is set to open tooltips on click, and you are hovering.
- Another script on the page has an error. Open your browser’s console and look for errors that are not from this plugin.
Something disappeared from my tooltip when I saved
Tooltips are cleaned like post content. Scripts, frames, forms and event
attributes such as onclick are removed. Use a link, or an
event for custom
behaviour.
My link was removed
Addresses must start with https://, http://, mailto: or tel:, or be
relative. Anything else is dropped when the map is saved.
“This map was changed by someone else”
Somebody saved the map while you had it open. Choose whether to take their version, keep yours, or save yours as a new map. Nothing is lost whichever you pick: every save is in the history.
The editor offers to restore changes I do not remember
They are changes that were never saved, kept by autosave. Restore them to look, or discard them. Your saved map is untouched either way.
The magic wand finds nothing PRO
It needs an area with a clear edge. Raise the tolerance, or draw the shape with the Polygon tool. It cannot read a picture served from another site.
A spreadsheet row was left out PRO
The preview says which line and why. The two usual reasons: x or y is not a
number, or link is not a full web address.
Two copies of the plugin are active
Free and Pro are separate plugins and only one can run. If both are active, one steps aside and a notice names it. Deactivate the one you do not need; your maps are shared and stay as they are.
“Plugixa Image Map could not finish setting up its database”
This notice appears in the WordPress admin when one of the plugin’s tables could not be created or updated. It names the table and, when the database gave one, the reason. The usual cause is a database user that is not allowed to create tables. Put that right with your host, then click Try again in the notice.
The editor is pushed down the page by other plugins’ notices
Notices from other plugins appear above the editor. Dismiss them and the editor moves back up.
Still stuck?
Note your WordPress and PHP versions, the plugin’s version, and what you see in the browser console, and contact support through your Plugixa account.
