Reschedule - Plugixa Car Parking
Reschedule PRO is an extra action on the customer account page. A customer picks a new entry and exit for a booking they already hold. The plugin checks the new dates, prices the stay again, shows the new total when it differs, and moves the booking only at the total the customer agreed to.
There is nothing to switch on and no setting. When Pro is installed, the Reschedule button appears on the account page by itself.
Where the customer finds it
The account page is the one that holds the [plugixa_car_parking_account]
shortcode. See Shortcodes.
Each booking in the list has its own row of buttons. Reschedule sits beside
Cancel.
Both a signed-in customer and a guest can reschedule. A guest first finds the booking with its reference and the email address it was made with, exactly as for cancelling.
Which bookings can be moved
The button is shown on the same bookings that can be cancelled. Both of these must be true:
| Condition | Detail |
|---|---|
| Status | The booking is Pending, Confirmed or Paid. A Completed, Cancelled, Refunded, No-show or Expired booking cannot be moved. |
| Cut-off | The cancellation cut-off has not passed. It is the Cancellation cut-off (hours) setting under Car Parking -> Settings -> Bookings. With the default of 0, a booking can be changed up to its entry time. |
A booking that fails either test shows no Reschedule button. If the status changes while the page is open, the request is refused with “This booking can no longer be changed.”
What the customer does
- Click Reschedule on a booking. A panel opens under the row, titled “Choose new dates for this booking”.
- Change New entry and New exit. Both start on the booking’s current dates. The exit calendar does not offer a date before the chosen entry.
- Click Save new dates.
What happens next depends on the price.
| The new dates cost | What the customer sees |
|---|---|
| The same as before | The booking moves at once, with “Your booking has been rescheduled.” |
| More or less than before | A notice: “These dates cost [new total]. Your booking is [old total] now. Confirm to move it at the new price.” The button changes to Confirm new dates and price. Nothing has moved yet. |
Changing either date after the notice appears clears it, and the price is asked again on the next click. Close shuts the panel without changing anything.
Both fields are required (“This field is required.”) and the exit has to be later than the entry (“Exit must be after entry.”).
What is checked
The new dates pass the same checks as a new booking. Each refusal is shown to the customer on the account page.
| Check | Message when it fails |
|---|---|
| The entry respects Shortest notice (minutes) and is not in the past | “The entry time is too soon or in the past.” |
| The entry respects Furthest ahead (days) | “The entry date is too far in the future.” |
| The location is open at both the entry and the exit, under its hours and exceptions | A message naming the closed date |
| A space of the same space type is free for the whole new stay | “Those dates are not available. Please choose another time.” |
| The price is still the one the customer was shown | “The price for those dates has changed. Please check the new total and confirm again.” |
The booking does not compete with itself: the space it already holds counts as free when the new dates overlap the old ones. On a location with assigned spaces, the booking keeps its space, so that same space has to be free for the new dates.
The location, the space type and the number of spaces do not change. To change any of those, the customer cancels and books again, or you edit the booking in Bookings.
See Availability for how the booking window, hours and capacity are worked out.
How the stay is priced again
The new total is a fresh quote for the new dates, built from the booking as it is stored: the same location, space type, quantity and billing unit, the same customer account, and the coupon the booking already redeemed. Extras PRO, tax rates PRO, pricing rules PRO and the deposit PRO are worked out again for the new dates.
When the booking moves, these are replaced together in one step:
- the entry and exit
- the billing unit
- the subtotal, discount, tax, deposit amount and total
- the booking’s price lines
See Pricing for how a quote is built.
What happens to the price difference
Rescheduling takes no payment and makes no refund. Payments already recorded on the booking stay as they are.
If nothing has been paid, only the total changes.
If something has been paid, the booking’s payment state is worked out again from its payments and the new total:
| After the move | Payment status | Booking status |
|---|---|---|
| Paid amount covers the new total | Paid | Paid |
| Paid amount is less than the new total | Deposit paid | Confirmed |
So a paid booking moved to a longer, dearer stay drops back to Confirmed with a balance due. Collect the balance and record it on the booking, or refund the difference on a cheaper stay, from the booking’s Payments panel. See Payments.
Messages
The customer sees the confirmation on the account page. No email, text message or Telegram post is sent for the change itself, to the customer or to you.
One side effect is worth knowing. When a paid booking is moved and is still paid in full afterwards, its payment state is confirmed again, and the Payment received email is sent again. See Emails.
A reminder PRO is sent once per booking. A booking that was already reminded is not reminded again after it is moved.
Limits
Cancelling and rescheduling share one limit: 10 requests an hour from one IP address. Asking for the price and confirming the move are separate requests, so every move uses two. A visitor over the limit sees “Too many requests. Please wait a little while and try again.”
If the car park is taking another booking at the same moment, the move is refused with “This car park is taking another booking right now. Please try again.” Nothing has changed and the customer can click again.
Without Pro
The free edition has no Reschedule button and no reschedule route. Customers can still cancel a booking from the account page. See Free vs Pro.
Reschedule stores nothing of its own, so removing Pro leaves no data behind.
