Prerequisites - Plugixa Exam
A prerequisite makes one exam depend on another. It is how a sequence becomes a sequence rather than a list.
The three conditions

| Taken | They have sat the other exam, whatever the outcome |
| Passed | They met its pass mark |
| Scored above | They reached a mark you name, which can be higher than its pass mark |
“Taken” is for a diagnostic you want done first but do not want to gate on. “Scored above” is for a genuine entry standard.
Why this rather than a cohort
They answer different questions. A cohort says who may sit. A prerequisite says what they must have done first, and it enforces itself as people progress.
Use a cohort for a class, a prerequisite for a syllabus.
Where it appears
On the exam’s Prerequisites tab. A learner who has not met it sees the exam with the requirement stated, rather than a bare refusal - which is why the condition should read as a sentence a learner understands.
Chains
An exam can require one that itself requires another. Keep the chain short: a learner stuck three exams back sees only the immediate requirement, and works their way up one at a time.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Usual cause |
|---|---|
| Nobody can start the exam | The prerequisite has not been met by anybody yet. Check the other exam has results. |
| A learner who passed is still blocked | The result is not released. A withheld score cannot satisfy a condition on the score. |
| The condition is met but the exam stays closed | Check the window and the attempt cap too. Prerequisites are one gate of several. |
| Removing a prerequisite did not reopen anything | Attempts in progress hold their own state. It applies to the next start. |
