Certificate designer - Plugixa Exam

Every site can award certificates, and every site can edit the one it has - see Certificates. This page is about the three things Pro adds: drawing the layout instead of typing it, having more than one, and choosing between them.

The canvas

Exams -> Certificates -> Designs, then open a design. Where the free edition shows the layout as JSON, Pro shows the page.

Drag a field onto it to place it, drag it again to move it, and drag its corner to resize it. The grid squares are 10 mm, and every position is millimetres from the top-left of the page - the same numbers the JSON holds, so a layout drawn here can still be exported, sent to somebody and pasted in on another site.

Selecting a field opens its properties: size in points, alignment, colour, bold, and fixed text. Leave the fixed text empty and the field is filled from the certificate - the recipient’s name, the exam, the score, the date, the serial, your site’s name, the verification link and the QR code. Fill it in and the field prints those words on every certificate, which is how headings like “Certificate of Achievement” work.

More than one design

The free edition keeps one. With Pro there is no limit, and Add a design appears on the Designs list.

A design is more than a layout: the paper, the orientation, how long a certificate stays valid and how it is numbered all belong to it. So a second design is the way to award, say, a wallet-sized card valid for two years alongside a full-page certificate that never expires.

A different certificate per exam

Once a site has two, each exam gets a Certificate design field on its Details tab. Leave it on Whichever design is published and the exam uses the first published design, which is what every exam did before there was a choice.

The picker only appears when there is something to pick between. With one design it renders nothing, because a list with one entry is a question with no second answer.

Changing an exam’s design changes what the next certificate uses. Ones already awarded are frozen at issue and keep the design they were awarded on.

If the licence lapses

Nothing is lost and nothing stops working. Every design you drew stays in the database, stays editable, and keeps being awarded. What goes is the canvas, the per-exam picker, and the ability to add another design.
